I went to my third track day/weekend at National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. I was initially a little nervous after my off at Putnam Park a month ago combined with the remnants of Hurricane Harvey blowing through the night before, but it all came together!
On top of that, I had several instructors come up to me throughout the day to tell me that I’m ready to bump up to the intermediate class! I would have taken the bump that day, but my bike wasn’t prepped with the necessary safety wired oil fill, drain, filter, radiator cap, and no antifreeze.
Next time I’ll be ready!

Dude, awesome! I keep going back and forth about whether I want to set foot on a track. My hesitation comes from my experience with automotive racing and trackdays, I always liked doing canyon runs and stuff, but once I started hitting the track (and eventually doing actual roadracing) doing canyon runs lost a lot of its draw.
I love riding on the street, but based on input from a lot of friends that do moto track days (and usually end up doing “only” moto track days), and my own experience with cars, I don’t want to risk losing something that’s a serious stress reliever for me.

I’ve heard that line of thought a lot and there’s some truth to it, but I think it just depends on the individual. I enjoy street riding for a different set of reasons than I enjoy the track.
Street riding for me is a source of stress relieve, adventure, and a faster, more enjoyable commute. I still ride canyons, and do so at a quite spirited pace, but for me it’s not about going as fast as I can.
Track riding is where I can really work on my riding skills and push myself and my bike harder than I ever would on the street. I love riding canyons too, but even on the roads I know really well I never feel comfortable pushing myself super hard because of things like blind corners, potholes, gravel, cars, deer, etc.
However, since I started track riding I find myself increasing drawn to getting a supermoto for street use...

eh canyon rides at 8/10th might become pointless, but riding around through beautiful scenery at 3/10th will always be relaxing.

That’s what I have scooters for! Perfect for cruising, no point in trying to rush

Supermoto is the answer, always...
.... Unless your canyons are sweepers, not too fun upshifting three times mid corner lol

Well done! 2 track days in I still haven’t, but I know my body position and confidence is getting better. Unfortunately, I’m about a year or more between track days.
