Alas, I have crossed over to the crossover crowd as I traded my Outback for this base 2017 XVCrosstrek MT. Power is pretty anemic, but similar to my base 2.5i Outback. Dammit, where’s the XT version Subaru? I think so far my Olive approves.

I kind of dig those, they are less crossover-y and more bigly-ified hatchback to me. I just moved into my new house and a neighborhood down in the cove has a black one with a bunch of exterior pieces from an STi on it. Will maybe find out later if it has the go to back up the show.

Good looking ride. Looks like it has a lot of ground clearance.

They make a STI stickered rear hatch spoiler that I’m sure adds 10hp, while my purely functional RallyArmor flaps on the way take away 5hp because drag.

8.7" ground clearance. If you saw my driveway, it makes sense for me.

0.6" more ground clearance than a Grand Cherokee

Does the doggo ride in the back seat or in the trunk area?

seats are basically always going to be folded down. Olive is 75# and would be ok in the rear area in a pinch for short trips. Besides she’s spoiled rotten so she gets the whole rear.

Has some pretty good approach and departure angles too, ~20* both front and rear. Not bad for a lifted hatchback.

Out of curiousity, what prompted the trade from outback to crosstrek?

my OB was 11 years old with 130k and was starting to become a less reliable vehicle, and i wasn’t feeling motivated to redo the head gaskets again.
