This has been bugging me too... For me, it seems like this is an issue in Chrome.

I logged in using MS Edge (no preference, just because it was there.) Went to my notifications, clicked on a comment, and it took me right there just like the olden days. I hope a fix or a solution comes soon. It’s getting old having to scroll through the whole article every time I want to see what someone liked or commented on.
