It would be this plane
Carbon Cub with a simple paint scheme and tundra tires. Absolute perfection.
If I became unreasonably wealthy I’d also have a Beechcraft Starship.
Oh shit:

Hard to stop at one, isn’t it?

BRB, creating private airforce of obsolete Soviet planes.

My first two. When I get to turbine power, it’ll be a Pilatus, then a G-V when I reach full baller status. Then warbirds...

Obsolete Russian planes you say? How about a turboprop biplane?
Though it does look and sound better with a radial.

Former employers of mine had a Pilatus and that was a pretty nice ride. They chose it because it was the nicest plane they could fly with their single engine licenses.

Saw “obsolete Soviet planes”, and immediately thought of the An-2. Nice!

The Cub is super tempting due to its versatility, but after looking at a bunch of Velocity planes at Oshkosh I kinda really want one

I had no idea they’d built a turboprop version till I was looking for the right image.
My other thought was a Wilga PZL-104, but that’s technically Polish.

I am boring and generic...

I didn’t know there was a turbine An-2, either.
Above is a Wilga I saw in Oshkosh last month. Neat aircraft.

There was one at an airport I worked at as a refueler in 2000. Pictures don’t do justice to how weird they look in person.

An-14 too

Very true. I stared at it for quite a while—much stranger than the picture suggests.

You want something Soviet and weird? This is as weird as it gets. Although not *technically* an airplane...

Ekranoplans are neat

I’d be happy with these. There’s more I want, but these are the “reasonable” ones.
The DC-3 is really pushing “reasonable”, though...

I mean, it is the greatest plane ever built... I don’t think you’re being unreasonable.

You’ll never get anywhere quickly in a Cub but what you can do slowly is pretty impressive. I used to trading to fly aerobatics out of King City, CA, which is in a valley that causes a very strong and steady wind right down the runway. Taking a break from training a few of us got talking about which one of us could land in the shortest distance. One of the instructors put it down like she was flying a helicopter. I’d guess she used about 50 feet before coming to a stop.
I’ve seen a lot of cool photos of them with the huge oversized wheels landing in the middle of nowhere. Looks really cool but if you blow it you’re now stuck in the middle of nowhere so I’d be uncomfortable attempting it.

My Uncle had an old Cub. It was fun as shit, but damn if it wasn’t slow.

They totally are. And very weird looking.
But they would make for a kick ass ferry.

This belongs to a friend, and he puts skis on it for winter. I love this plane, I’ve been in it a handful of times over the years.
This was his friend who came along, I think it’s a Champ? Similar, but more powaaahhh (if I recall correctly).

I am not saying you are wrong, but:
1. Learjet 25
2. Cessna 441 Conquest II
3. Lockheed L-188 Electra
4. MiG 19
5. Hughes H-1 Racer

It’s really a childhood friend’s father. I’m still close with the friend, so I get to experience this fantastic machine once in a while. He’s always amused at whatever boat I have, no matter what it is. He just chuckles and says, “That’s a lot of money for something that can’t even leave the ground!” I think he bought this Cub for something like under $10k, but that was probably 40 years ago. Still...

That is the proper and only response to that plane
