For some background, I work in an R&D group of a pretty large company. I do software stuff, mostly.

My boss told me explicitly that the “responsibility” (blame) for certain parts of our project will fall on me... if it fails. Do I get any credit if it succeeds? Of course not. Do I have any control over the success or failure of these things? No. Am I completely fed up with this shit? Yes.

I have been warning of problems in this area (sorry for being vague) for over a year and proposing solutions that I would implement myself. I was repeatedly turned down due to the risk and time required to properly fix things and now I’m being told that I’ll be responsible if it fails.

Venting complete, Oppo. I need to go for a drive.

Agreed. I got an excellent rating last year, which basically just put a target on my back. We’re coming close to the launch of a product we’ve been working on for 3 years, and I had planned on seeing it through, but the way things are getting...

No. Most of aviation and other high-risk injuries focus on company culture, as created by management, when something goes wrong.

I.E. if a train derails, it’s probably not the fault of the maintenance crews who didn’t repair the tracks, but the fault of the management who didn’t make track repair a priority.
