Post a “reasonable” car you’d buy after winning the lottery. A GT350 has all the practicality of a Mustang while also being rad.

In all honesty, if I won a yuuuuuge pot o cash, I’d just want to drive something fun and kinda normal. Maybe a brand new WRX or Miata. Something that I’d enjoy but wouldn’t broadcast to the world “Yo, just fell into a ton o cash and I don’t know how to save!”
Plus, with $500m, you could get a new one every 6-12 months for the rest of your life.

I’ve said to my wife before, if I won the lottery I’d put an E46 M3 drivetrain into an E46 wagon. I could pay a shop to do it right, and it would be an amazing car that most people wouldn’t notice. Or maybe the same thing but E39 M5 wagon. Or just the AMG wagon I posted already.

After that was going to be a truck and open trailer, complete tear down and rebuild of my OBXT (fresh WRX or STI motor, six speed, STI drivetrain/differentials, black interior instead of current tan, and WRB paint), and fixing up anything and everything wrong with our houses (for eventual sale)

This is why I’d get a BRZ. Fun but still normal and common enough to not garner much attention. Aside from a possible desert truck and the historic rally cars I’d collect for my museum/rally ranch there aren’t any six figure cars I think I’d want to buy. I’d want to experience a number of them, but I doubt there are any I’d enjoy regularly enough to make outright ownership worthwhile.

Evo X and Focus RS are more great examples - though a bit more boy racery.

Step 1. Use majority of lottery winnings to move someplace with mountains where you can buy an RS6. I like Norway, but Switzerland would be cool too.

Step 3. Spend remainder on fuel, insurance and Belgian beer.

Not just Italian: it’s a Maserati. I suppose you could treat it like an helicopter and go through a “pre-drive” checklist every time you drove it, get annual inspections, and have the engine torn down every 100 hours or so.
Wait, that does sound a lot like owning an Italian car. ;)

And get the transmission swapped to a Manuel, because fuck tha police. Then do a little engine tune, swap out everything that can be swapped for carbon fiber “within reason” (painted to match the original color of course), and enjoy my little batmobile sleeper (color would have to be black on black).
You can’t tell, but this is a CTS-V that I’ve swapped the front clip on, because a) I think the V grille is less attractive than the normal one and b) because sleeper.
This RX-8 has either a LV3 4.3 liter v6 (a 3/4 LS) with the various bits swapped out for their LS7 equivalents, or aftermarket equivalents where applicable. Or maybe it has a F20. I’m not sure.
Because I have a soft spot for Nazi cars (don’t love the ideology though).
I might buy a home in the UK just so I could own one of these. Or maybe just Canada. Or Mexico?
I love the first gen Viper, and the interiors are crap anyway, so you might as well add a helmet and a roll cage and maybe survive owning it.
I’ve seen these in person, and they’re gorgeous. Mine would need a swap to longitudinal and a Hartley V-8, because I hate reliability! Ok, I’d probably just leave it alone, but this is my pipe dream, ok?

Wow, so there have been a bunch of E46 M3 wagons made, but that is something else (aside from being an E91). 625hp in a 3 series, holy hell.
The only thing is, it definitely

like something special, and that’s a good thing, but I’d prefer the more subtle looks of a drivetrain swap without crazy body modifications. But damn, that’s a cool one.

That’s for sure. The guy not only swapped the guts of an M3 into it but he added more power. He earns my respect.
I think to you and I it looks like crazy modifications to a wagon but to the rest of the world it’s a station wagon. Especially since he’s swapped the M3 panels on and left them as they were. Although I live in the Bay area where M cars are all over the place so that may be a part of it as well.
