The point at which I start thinking there might be a lot of water is when I see ships going down, sharks surrounding life rafts, and PBYs landing to pick up survivors.
This is not that, just close.

Are you from Texas? Do you live in Houston or the Coastal Bend? If not, then you can just shut the fuck up right now. Yes, there’s THAT much water. So much water that first responders have put a call out to volunteers with flat bottomed boats, jon boats and airboats to help rescue people because the roads are fucking rivers. There have been people who put out calls for rescue two DAYS ago who haven’t been helped yet because there aren’t enough boats.
Harvey has dumped 15 trillion gallons of water over Houston and another 6 trillion more are still expected to come down. So hush with your flippancy.

Old W. let New Orelans turn into the Thunderdome. No way is Trump sending in planes to pick up survivors, especially when he learns about how many Mexicans live in southeastern Texas.

Sorry, my point was there’s a lot of water (obviously) but not enough to run a go-fast boat like the one in the picture. Was not trying to belittle a bad situation.

It’s a flat-bottomed boat. Houston PD put out a call for help to anyone with a flat-bottomed boat. Just because it’s a speed boat doesn’t mean it HAS to go fast.

That is not a flat bottom boat, if anything it’s a deep vee typical of go-fasts. And the guy standing in knee-deep water? Barely enough to float it without dragging the outdrive on the bottom. That was my original point, albeit clumsily made.

I knew what you meant, looking at the sterndrive boat and how those guys are barely over knee-deep... they needed small outboards, and properly flat-bottomed boats ideally. Especially where you’re navigating streets that may have cars submerged, or who the hell knows what. You’re likely to end up needing rescue yourself, driving a boat like that - which is what it looks like is happening in this picture.....

I can only assume they’re recovering the boat onto the trailer. Nothing else makes sense.
