Houston has been declared as a “Flash Flood Emergency” by the NWS, which is the rarely-used, shit-your-pants level above “Flash Flood Warning”. Flooding is rampant around the area, and we’re not even close to being done with the rain. If you’re in an affected area (not just H-Town), let us know if you’re okay.

I’m sitting here in the SW ‘burbs, dodging tornados (missed another one by a couple miles about 30 minutes ago). No threat of the house getting flooded out, but I have two friends who are on the cusp of having water in their homes. I am pretty sure I have a few other friends who are already flooded out, but haven’t told us yet. These are the days where I wish I still drove a 4x4 truck.

How are y’all doing, Texas Oppos? Do you need any help?

Still here. No power. Everything is flooded, but I’m at least on the second floor so no imminent risk to me. My car is probably in the highest spot in the lot, but that may still be too low. Up to the bottom of the muffler last I checked.

Sorry to hear it. Stay safe, and hopefully you’ll get electricity back soon.

Still have electricity?

Power failure is specific to sections of my apartment building so it’s probably going to be out for a while. No chance of a fix until things get back to normal.

Which probably means I should stop using up all my remaining power...

Yup. We’re not far from a major power station, so we don’t lose power often.

:( stay safe. As much as it can suck, cars can be replaced.

I’m good here. It could rain twice as much and not flood over here north of IAH fortunately. At it’s worst I still had access to 90% of the near by streets and store. The rest of the city is another story :(

Only car here that didn’t make it was this C7 Corvette. Street wasn’t that deep but enough for the Vette

It just missed us - I’m about 5 miles west of SA. Still have big wind gusts and gray skies, but we only got about an inch of rain and some loose branches knocked out of trees. Just a few miles away are flooding and power outages that several friends are dealing with. As of last night the forecast still was for 4" near me but it appears to have decided to head straight for you instead. Good luck and glad to hear you’re mostly above the water.

Glad to know you’re doing good. The news is giving tons of reports about historic flooding, so you never know.

My car after the first band last night. The water was ankle deep next to it, and out in the middle of the parking lot the water was probably at least 6 inches deep. I moved my car forward as far as i could after I took this to give it a bit of extra room. Thankfully it drained pretty fast after the first band passed through, but the second band came through and filled the lot up a little higher than before. But again it drained.

The tornadoes have been frightening. We had one touch down very very close apparently, just barely dodged a bullet.

Thankfully we’re fine and will probably continue to be fine. I just want this to be over. I can’t keep seeing all these displaced people on the news. It’s really heartbreaking to watch. I recognize how fortunate we are because it could have been us if conditions were slightly altered.

If I had a truck, I’d be out helping people, but my CTS is no match for this bullshit. Hopefully, your parking lot keeps draining!

I’m just south of you on 99. Not bad here either. And we’re finally getting a break in the weather!

My wife is in the valley with my in-laws. They saw a little rain, but not much. My sister-in-law is in San Antonio and is fine. I have family in Freeport, Clute, Corpus Christie, and Houston. Everyone is fine so far. Some friends in Houston are getting flooded, but they’ve taken refuge on the second floor and it’s not likely the water will get that high.

What kind of monster are you? Going to get freshly made, melt in your mouth, glazed donut on a morning like today? Now I want Shipley’s too bad I’m 3500 miles away.
