And the professor is going over PEMDAS
It’s good to know the university thinks freshman have forgotten more in one summer than I have in 4 years of not doing any math more advanced than basic geometry with computer assistance.
Although we’re suppose to be doing integral calculus by the end of the class. We’ll see how that goes....

I thought PEMDAS was a Malaysian oil company.

I am slightly considering going back to school for a degree/certificate/something more useful than my Bachelors in Theater. I’m terrified of having to take more math because it’s been 13 years since I’ve had to math.

I don’t think it would be too bad as long as you can still do arithmetic pretty well.
Also sure as hell start at a community college. It’s so much better than a university, because it’s a small class and it’s easy to ask the prof question, like high school.
These fresh/soph classes at university you have 200 people and you hear the professor through shitty speakers 30ft away and it’s pretty much sink or swim.

My plan is to get a solid A on the easy stuff so hopefully I’ll have some room for error when we get to calc.

We always called it BEDMAS in high school - brackets instead of parenthesis. I suspect parenthesis is probably the correct term.

This. My freshman and softmore math classes were huge. Your only hope for help was to get TAs that gave a shit. By which I mean no hope.

Yeah, we have a community college in town. I doubt I’ll get another Bachelors or anything, so just planning on going there and that’s all. My math ACT score was so high I didn’t have to take any in college the first time, so at least at one time I knew this stuff.

My first college math class was calculus, 5 days a week from 7:30 to 8:30 am. Fucking sucked.

Brackets act the same for orders of operation. So they both work.

Thankfully my school has free tutoring. I’m gonna take advantage of that so hard if I start to struggle. (Next week lol)

I’ve never heard of it either. I guess it’s something the kids learn these days.
