We are on our big PCH trip and were up at the far North West corner of Washington state. This is literally as far NW as you can go in the US. This VW was just sitting there waiting for me to get a pic with it. We ended up running into the owner and his lady friend on the trail. Nice guy, sorry I didn’t get his name.
So, we were looking through the photos last night, and it turns out he actually photobombed one of our shots!

Very cool. And what a fun road trip. Especially in a Z with a great color

You’re the man for road tripping in the Z. I can’t wait to take mine on an expedition.

Alaska called. They said they were even more north, and even more west.
No but seriously, the most northerly point of the continental US is in Minnesota.

Oh, man, dat VW. I had an 88, the first car I ever owned outright. I loved it. I think it’s just about the perfect form factor for a 2D hatch. I got everything I owned into it when I went to grad school.

This one was also an 88. It’s such a cool body style.

No time like the present! But seriously, these cars are built like tanks and super reliable. Mine has been coast to coast, up and down and all over the US.

Looking closer, I see that it is. Starting with the 89, they added a post in the back seat for the shoulder belt mount. It’s a fantastic body style, as I said. When I replaced it in 01, the AC still blew cold, but the TX heat had warped all the ducting in the dash and it barely came out one vent. I think I had about 175k on mine, still with the original clutch. I’d love to find a nice one and start driving one again. Great car.

That’s awesome. I only picked my C5Z up in April so I’m slowly checking off boxes. First track day this Friday!

That part of Minnesota is pretty far up there. North of anywhere people live in Ontario or Quebec, or the maritimes.
Almost all of western canada is entirely north of eastern canada, even what would be considered northern ontario or northern quebec.
And in Alberta everything is even more north. I’m just here on the 54th parallel.
