So as you may know I am going to sell my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (I believe the Jr. refers to it being smaller than the one twenty, I know it is weird).
This one in fact
The actual car
Well I thought you may all be interested in more info on it.
It is powered by a 4.0L (245 ci) flathead inline six good for 100 hp @3,600 and 200 lb-ft @ 2,000. A compression ratio of 6.3:1 (wheeze wheeze) (though it had an optional 7.0:1) and a 1-bbl Chandler-Groves downdraft (nasty leaker, I sear look it up). It is a 3 on the tree with second and third having synchromesh. It has a 6 volt system and 4 wheel drums and a turning circle of 19.17 ft (5.85 m). Iron block and aluminum head.
Engine pic via Google
At least that is all the stock info and as far as I was told she is 100% stock.

Man that’s excellent. The GTO will be missed but they’re obtainable...there aren’t a lot of 1940 Packards milling about.

That and I have a special place with this Packard and as much as I love the Goat, she can be replaced.

Hot rod it. Offset grind that crank and put some higher-zoot pistons in there.

While that would be fun, I prefer the stockness of it all. That is how my friend had it and I think that is how I will too. Unless I build a separate engine for it and keep the original on the side.

Can’t put a price on an emotional connection with a car, I read the run down on it earlier. I hope it works out well, can’t really see why it wouldn’t, haha.

Yeah I don’t see why it shouldn’t work out

I’m impressed it has a synchronized transmission

Wow, aluminum head in 1940?!? Super cool. I want to see this thing.

It lives out near you, that could be arranged.

But, back then, a lot of drivers didn’t even use 1st.
Would not recommend that, though.

This thing is gorgeous, hope it works out for you! Also, that, at least to me, seems like it would be a rare color! Most Packards I think of are often black?

Call me crazy, but I think 100hp/200 lb ft is perfectly sufficient for a car like this. These things were supposed to be pretty stoutly built, too.

I’d use first to go

I agree, there is no reason this won’t do everything I ask of it.

And convert it to FWD so he can put those snooty Cord fans and their coffin-noses in their place!
