I knew something was wrong when I fired up my scooter, and it sounded like a dirt bike. Admittedly the sound is kinda cool, but it’s too loud to ride around the neighborhood and it’s WAY down on power.
Pipe rusted right in half. The two halves are completely blown apart. Balls.

Well, there’s your problem.

Yep. It was a mystery for about 8-1/2 seconds.

Did it rust apart? It looks like it was goober welded together at some point.

I think the answer is yes to both.

Ha! I bet you’re right.
Is that a 2 stroke? If it is a high temp silicone coupler (like the ones used on dirt bikes) might make an easy fix. But you’d have to grind off that mount to do it.

No, it’s a 4-stroke. I’m considering riding it to an exhaust shop and having them attempt to reweld it. I really don’t feel like paying $200-300 for a new one.

aluminium can, hose clamps, duct tape, plus some welding.

I’m thinking taking it to an exhaust shop for a weld, then reinforcing it with a can and a couple hose clamps.
