In a few weeks, I travel to Moline, Illinois, nestled in the heart of the Quad Cities, to give some paid speeches at an event for John Deere at their Moline complex.
I will be there for three days, with a day off in the middle. Any car-related recommendations? Any advice for a wandering Oppo on killing time in the Quad Cities?

Tell Deere they can fuck right off with their monopoly on repair and diagnostic support.

No, put in my youth, I dated a girl that went to Palmer College, and worked at Hooters in Davenport. Those were fun times. Hooters Air was also a thing then. Flew into Midway a few times for $29 and drove to Davenport.

Hotel Blackhawk in Davenport is very nice. Also look for Whiteys ice cream.

River House Bar & Grill at 1510 River Drive in Moline is pretty good, I’ve eaten there almost every time I’ve been in the area.
Ganzo’s Mexican Restaurant at 3923 N Marquette Street in Davenport, Iowa is a pretty awesome joint, good food and good people.
See if you can get a tour of the John Deere Harvester Works, it’s pretty awesome.

Not too much going on during the week. 97x has Bike Night at the H-D dealership.
MINIGTI recommended one of the best places to visit with Hotel Blackhawk. They have Bix Bistro, a nice Jazz themed restaurant/bar. And I’m pretty sure they still have a Barber shop where you can get a straight razor shave.
If you have a rental car and the time you can cruise out to LeClaire and check out Antique Archeology. It’s a bit of a tourist trap but LeClaire itself has a lot to offer on it’s own.
Jim’s Rib Haven is the only place to go if you want good BBQ .
