More than 2.1 million people are expected to travel to South Carolina for the eclipse tomorrow, and many will pass through the Charlotte area. Traffic was a bit busier than usual this afternoon, so people may be heeding advice and getting to their destinations early.
I’m hoping my commute is okay tomorrow. My office will have a viewing party with glasses for all staff, so that should be fun. Too bad we won’t get totality.

I live on the path of totality, and it’s actually fairly calm as of now. Luckily I’m off tomorrow though.

I drove down to SC yesterday, traffic was nuts through VA. I bet tomorrow is a disaster!
I’m going to attempt to do the 16 hours back in one shot tomorrow night. I expect trouble.

That seems like a safe expectation. Good luck!

That is lucky. And maybe it’s calm near you because people arrive rather than travel through?

That’s likely what it is. Tomorrow is going to have lots of boat trailer traffic.

I am looking forward to my day off as well. It’s already a little crazy around here with the traffic, they are also reporting gas shortages in some places. It cracks me up.

I just drove north from Charlotte. They have these signs as far north as Maryland! Granted, I didn’t go past MD.

81 or 95? I drove north on 81 and there were a couple really bad spots.

The highway signs in New York told people to put their headlights on during the eclipse. I’m curious as to the statute that says that

I’m about an hour north of the 100% eclipse path, nothing major on I-20 or I-95.

81. There were a Half dozen reported accidents, but I only saw 1. Overall, there was an extra 90 minutes just in VA.

Sounds about right for what I saw. Looked worst at Staunton and Roanoke.
