my weapon of choice:
I also just ate fried chicken and I don’t think I could be more content right now.
My usual go-to for whisky is Glenmorangie or Macallan but I like this one. I don’t have the capacity to get into flavours and notes and aromas and body and etc. but it appeals to me.
I think this man agrees:
He’s got the same face I have when trying to enjoy a whisky but am instructed by an “enthusiast” as to what I’m drinking. I love whisky (and wine) but damn people say too much about notes of this and lots of that on the nose and a thicc body and stuff.

I’m an Irish whiskey drinker and I like promoting a whiskey I’ve found to taste great. I find it hard to explain it’s flavour but often my enthusiasm for it wins the customer over.

I’ll drink a standard Jameson but the only memorable Irish whisky I’ve had is one called Writer’s Tears. It also has the memorable quality of being ambiguously tasty.

Japanese single malt is pretty damn delicious. If you like Scotch, you’ll like Japanese whisky. I’m partial to Yamazakee myself.

I’ve heard wonderful things about Suntory but I can’t find it anywhere. I may have to have my local ABC special order some or go through a questionable third party site - VA doesn’t like anyone shipping in spirits but after the 3 bottles of spyritus I’ve had imported, I think they’re good.

Try Teeling Single Malt. I know it’s available in New York but don’t know about elsewhere. Jameson pales into comparison against a Teeling.

I used to work near where they shot some of that movie. I’ve stayed in that hotel too. I want to stay in the room:

I’ll watch out for this one.
I named Jameson since it’s a common, utility-grade whisky. As much as I like nice stuff, I’ll still drink really unfancy stuff, too. Kinda like how I love a nice prime rib but will also love a Big Mac.

I guess the states have various nonsensical and inconvenient laws as well.
Our alcohol is Ontario is monopolized under a government corporation. It’s positive in that you have pretty consistent distribution of decent products across the province, including things you wouldn’t expect like Toki or some trappist varieties.
The downside is horrendous price gouging and inconvenience - I love the fact that you can get beer at the grocery store in the US and price it as they wish is incredible. Quebec has decent beer prices but nowhere near the best I’ve seen in the US.

Never heard of it, but I’ll watch out for it. Toki is the first Japanese whisky I’ve seen.

It’s worth every cent. It’s around $40-45 in the U.S. but tastes like a $100+ whiskey easily.
Since I learned to make my own Big Mac, the non filling Big Mac doesn’t do it for me anymore. Even my local Italian restaurant owner likes a Big Mac from time to time.

I was going to ask if it was in Shinjuku or Shibuya but I decided to read the damn link and got my answer. I’ll be in Japan soon but it never crossed my mind to go to that hotel.
Seeing the bar would be neat but unless Scarlett is going to come see me, I don’t think it’s worthwhile.

Big Macs used to be big, right? I keep telling myself it’s because I was a kid that the burger seemed large (since I was used to those kids meals) but the burger is pretty small. That simple thousand island/lettuce/onion/pickle combo is excellent, and something I need to make at home instead.

Sounds like it’s not *too* far off from ABC states. So VA for example is an ABC state. Beer can be purchased nearly anywhere up until 1145pm, but liquor can only be had at ABC stores. It’s a state ran Monopoly, they control the pricing, from what I’ve seen they aren’t too awful (they want to make money themselves as it is still a business). However I can go to DC and every street corner has a questionable looking, random bottles of booze of the shelves, sometimes behind plexiglass walls, etc.
On top of that the US even has some blue laws and even dry counties enacted.

Apparently it’s a perception thing. When we were younger things seemed bigger than what they are now.
I’m not completely sure, I think we’re being cheated.

OOH. On the rare occasion I go for booze-booze, I want to enjoy something that tastes good. I’m not sure I can enumerate what that is beyond “doesn’t taste like rubbing alcohol and sadness” and “that’s yummy,” but there you go. Sweeter (brown stuff) or herbier (clear stuff) seems like an apt summary. You like what you like, and you do you as long as someone else steals your car keys if you’re having several. This sounds like a winner.
It was Dogfish Head night at dinner, but I’ve got too much to do this weekend, sooooooooooooo there was a hard cut-off as usual. Chicken, though. Good baked chicken. *toasts a chicken leg*
Related: Tomorrow, we move the engine. I almost burst into tears when my friend tried to say she’d sold it as a joke. Thisclose. Can’t do more sadness in my life right now. But she didn’t. It’s the engine time. Tomorrow, we get the 944 engine. It’s been sitting at a friend’s place since 944 v1 died. I can’t wait.
