Cosmo for attention.
So, recently I picked up an old Apple keyboard to restore and possibly use with my iMac. It’s a 2000 Apple Pro Keyboard, which cost $5.00 at the thrift store.
I also got a mouse, but that’s a different story.
As you can see, it’s not very clean. So, I decided to get to work after studying how to properly take one of these apart. It’s actually a pretty simple process if you have the right tools. Tonight I started on the keyboard...I currently have all the keys soaking in a bath of soap and water.
Removed the tacky B’ham whale sticker that makes no sense.
They say the model before these which debuted with the 1998 iMac was the most beautiful keyboard ever produced. I agree.
This weekend I’ll attack disassembling the case and cleaning the insides.

I always did like these keyboards. Shame that all theirs are crap now.

I used to use one of those all the way up to 2015; unfortunately I spilled a beer all over it and killed it.

The aluminum keyboards are something I can’t use in a realistic setting. That’s what the iMac has now. Good for a keyboard, bad for a desktop.

Nice! Also if you have access to an air compressor, blowing out the keys helps remove crumbs and shit

That reminds me, I need to still sell off a G4 imac and a couple Emacs.
I thought they’d be a cool project, but the other cool projects got in the way.

What shape is the G4 in and how much are you willing to take?

Honest it’s been a minute since i’ve seen it, it’s been sitting in a side room with it’s Emac sisters. I threw a fresh install of OSX on it when I first got it and then just kinda let it sit. I had a mouse and a keyboard with it but no external speakers. If i remember right it was a 15 inch model that had a CD drive.
To not lose money I need to pocket about 50 bucks.

Oh hey, I have one of these in the closet in perfect shape. I also have an Apple Cinema display I bought with the G4 tower I sold years ago. I keep meaning to sell it, but I never get around to it.

Looks like a Birmingham Vineyard Vines sticker. Def previously owned by a white girl.

Is that what you call them? On my Macbook the key travel is extremely small. However, I use a IBM Model M as my desktop and the tiny keyboard on this thing doesn’t bother me at all.

I like my MBP keyboard, but when paired to the iMac my hands just hurt.
