For I’ve received 3 speeding tickets in a single day: 2 for going 60 in a 50 and one for going 75 in a 50 - (MPH)

It depends, the medium infraction ones are 25 bucks, the higher infraction ones are 60 and the ones they take your license away are 270 bucks.

Not really, the car is registered to a company so I don’t get points in my license, I just pay the fines.

60 in a 50, even if not in kmh (it appears numbers were translated to mph), that’s pretty weak. Think of the children! I wonder which corrupt officials siphon off the money to launder in foreign real estate etc.

One away from a ban in the UK. Our governments boner for speed cameras has made me pretty aware of where and where not to speed. It’s probably made me a worse driver to be honest because in certain places I’m more focused on my speedo than the road.

I got a $400 one for window tint before.
And on another occasion I got pulled over doing 98 in a 55 with expired plates, only got a warning!

See, these were not stationary speed cameras, these were hidden officers with speed guns. I know were the normal speed cameras are pretty well.

Ah we dont have those. We have mobile camera vans but they’re fairly noticable. Plus amusingly the camera vans are usually front facing and since I mostly DD a motorbike, they can’t catch me.

You use cameras for speeding there? Here, they are only allowed to be used to catch red light runners. Speeding citations are officially forbidden.

This doesn’t make sense. In Soviet USA if you are the driver regardless if it’s a commercial vehicle or not, you get the fine and the associated points that go with the infraction.

Because they don’t know I’m the driver as the car is registered to my family’s company.
So I pay the fines and fee for the points.

Technically the company should tell who the driver is and have the points transferred to them, the penalty for not doing so is a fine.
I just pay the tickets and the fine.

Years ago (i.e., before everything was completely computerized and trackable (hi NSA!), I moved between non-contiguous states. On the Friday before I moved, I went to court and changed my not guilty plea to a speeding ticket to guilty. I moved on Saturday. On Monday, I went to my new state’s DL station and traded in state #1's license for a shiny new state #2 license. Why was the timing so critical? Because state #1 started processing the paperwork to yank my license for too many speeding tickets when I pled guilty, so I had to get my new license in state #2 before the old license went poof. When state #1 subsequently sent me the suspension paperwork, I just laughed and threw it away, enjoying my new license that had exactly zero points on it. And I didn’t get a ticket in state #2 the entire 3 years I lived there.
tl;dr Suck it, Iowa! You can’t catch me.

Most states use redlight cameras in lieu of speed cameras. Most states are either or. Unless it’s DC which has redlight, speed, stop sign and overheight enforcement

Yeah, when I go above it’s usually a reasonable 5-10 over, or with the flow of traffic. I guess this would ticket everyone in a line of faster moving traffic which also sucks

As I’ve learned, you can pass the police in Colombia doing 120 km/h in a 70 km/h zone and they don’t even bother to look if you’re in an armored diesel Fortuner with limo tint or a Q5 3.0 TDI also with limo tint.
Not that I would know or anything.

I use Waze. It gives me a warning when speed traps have been identified. It doesn’t keep me from getting nabbed by the random officer, but it’s pretty good for identifying areas where police like to hang out and the location of speed/red-light camera.

I do too, constantly.
But these were all speed guns, I know where the speed traps are. The officers hide on overpasses, behind walls and even behind signs and Waze can’t catch them all.
