It seems like even non-smokers put them on their cars here... These, mud flaps, and a handful of other weird mods seem to be standard for people into cars around here.

Not wanting to be that way, but in my area, it seems particular to people of a certain heritage who smoke. But that’s also a large demographic here to begin with. Then smokers in general, old people.

Mud flaps/guards are definitely a thing here, they probably keep heavy particulate crud from getting high on the car in rain. I’d like to find a set of factory accessory flaps for my fintail, very rare item.

I notice window tint seems to becoming more common here, for the several sunny weeks a year (makes it risky being a pedestrian at intersections, given the clueless nature of local drivers and dearth of pedestrian-supporting law enforcement action).
