Replacing the alternator on 2004 Saab 9-5 Arc wagon. It resides behind and below the motor. What genius thought that was a good idea? This is worse than the e39 540i (Mother f****ng water cooled alternator).
I have another burner, try to guess it!

Same with the Integra. You have to remove either a halfshaft or the MC to get it out.

Do you have the Saab WIS? It is really helpful for planning and executing repairs.

Hit the torrents for the Saab WIS program, it’s super helpful for engine work. Though it doesn’t like Vista and above, run a virtual client with XP and it works like a charm.

There was a 9-5 listed for very cheap that just needed the alternator installed. Thinking it was suspicious that someone would rather sell the car than install an alternator, I looked up the job before asking to see the car.
A few weeks later I saw it at the junkyard with the new-in-box alternator sitting in the trunk.

I bought mine from a dude in Bellevue area for real cheap. I have a suspicion he knew about the fact the alt was on the way out. There a few issues that resolved itself when I turned it over after the new alternator. It’s a big job for a shade tree mechanic and a two hour job at a shop. Oh well, had the day off anyways. From parking car in the garage to cleaning up the garage afterwards took me from 11am to 6pm.
