You were required to start with a Pikachu which you could catch anyway in Red/Blue in the forest. It deprived you of a normal starter and made beating Brock (rock gym) a miserable chore.

You can also sweep Brock with Butterfree’s Confusion, or Manky’s Karate Chop.

I know because I always chose Charmander.

Torterra is one of the coolest looking Pokémon period. I’ve just never been a fan of grass types even tho I know they are strong. Intact right now I’m playing Leaf Green so my kid and I can battle, while he plays Fire Red, and my Weepinbell is my strongest Pokémon not my Charmeleon.

From 6-11, and then at 12 it learns Confusion it’s time consuming but it works. And if you were lucky you could catch a lvl8 metapod and speed things up.

Gen 1 of course

Gen 2 I see your reasoning because that croc rocks my socks. But Typhlosian is really number 1. T is one, if not the only, good fire type (besides legendaries) to come out of gen 2 and you always need a good fire type on your team.

Gen 3 Okay I agree but all three are pretty great.

Gen 4 is strangely missing here so Turtwig wins

Gen 5 they all made me sad

Gen 6 Girninja is a beast so yes

Gen 7 Totally agree

I didn’t even notice I forgot gen 4, apparently I can’t count. But it was supposed to be Turtwig, because Torterra is a beast.

A lot of my decisions are based purely on how cool the fully evolved form is. Which is why Rowlet beats out Litten.
