OUCH! Insurance is gonna be pissed when they need to pay out for the guard rail.
And I don’t even see a turn in either pictures... What was he even doing?

Most guard rails walk pretty slowly. It’s natural to get impatient when they don’t move.

That’ll learn ya!
But seriously, on a public roadway? bad call.

I did the same to my ride a few weeks back. Just picked it up from the shop this afternoon.

I’m not sure. He was very upset. He loves that car.

I’d be heartbroken. I’ve hopped more than a few curbs screwing around in parking lots, so I know the shitty feeling of hurting your car just because you were messing around. And that’s just my cheap Miata.
The would is still fresh, so give him a few weeks before you ask him what in the hell he was doing out there...

I see a curve in the distance... tank slapper on exit that was overcorrected and snapped left into the guard rail head-on?

Is that the sedan or Leon hatchback?

I see an aftermarket intercooler insurance isn’t gonna pay for (presumably). I’m grateful for his taking the blow for a future Mustang...

Hold on, wasn’t he avoiding hitting a dog in the street? Sure, thats what happened, wink wink, nudge nudge.

In both those photos, he would have been approaching the camera.
Looks like there is a left hander in the back of photo #2. I’m guessing he overcorrected, and found himself heading towards the opposite gardrail with a little oversteer. Looks like he hit it just about head on.
That’s my guess.

This is an EXCELLENT point! I need to remember this line!

Could have gone that way. I’ve been in this car several times and it is fast. It pains me to see it crashed up. I didn’t need details.

dang - hit that rail pretty hard too. Busted the posts right off.

Deer are hard to argue over as well. Those fucking things are everywhere.
I actually did nail one a few years ago, cop was questioning me for a while about what I hit before he realized I wasn’t joking. He said he’d never seen one in that area before.
That said, it always hurts anyone’s pride for a while when they can’t blame anything but themselves.
The car is a bunch of parts, it can, and likely will get fixed. His rates will go up, then they’ll go back down. Just life.

Understeer is a cruel mistress.

His pride is wrecked more than the car, for sure!
