Image couresty of BMW Blog
Spent the last few days heckling dealers about the oft-rumored BMW M2 CS, i.e. the creme de la creme tarted up throwback to BMWs performance past. The situation looks grim. A few dealers seem to pretend the car does not exist and will not discuss it until a formal release, others have an established wait-list requiring the future owner to agree to a markup of $5-15K OVER MSRP.
I was hoping to place this in my garage come fall/winter 2018 if an MT is offered and a dealer agrees to MSRP. The situation and price is quickly flirting with Porsche territory. Looks like I need to keep on dreaming...

Against all sound judgement I really wanted a no-owner, never farted in new car. However a single owner, choice spec 981 Cayman S is a search I may embark on.

Is this a car where they charge you more for taking things out of it? That drives me crazy ...

Ultimately that was the BMW M2 “Performance Edition” with manual seats, single zone A/C, base stereo and limited weightloss - MSRP nearly $9-10K over the regular M2.
The CS variant is supposed to follow in the M4 CS footsteps and most noteably borrow a detuned S55 engine (400 HP+) to replace the N55 engine.

I don’t fit comfortably in Caymans, so I went for a more used 997. No regrets!

This might be the one modern BMW that I would ditch my E90 for. Although, BMW of Hilton Head said they would have an M2 available in the fall, which is super tempting.

Best of luck ... you realize, of course, that I live vicariously through you guys as far as cars are concerned.

My experience in the regular M2 left me desiring something a bit more special - namely in the engine persona (not power) and less crowded interior. Perhaps I need to look elsewhere
