Honda had a demo day specifically for us instructors. Rode the fury, the gold wing, the africa twin and the vfr1200x

(Kinja pics dont fail me now)

Now who can tell me whats so odd about the vfr?

Yep! Totally stock production bike. 1300cc of water cooled honda.

Goldwings rock. They are big heavy boats, but super agile. The engine is also so smooth.

Not my kind of bike (SV650 is probably my idea of 2-wheeled perfection), but I’m pretty impressed. They did good job of hiding the radiator as well.

How’d you like the Africa Twin?

Its agile for a house sure. But not compared to my sv

As agile as a 900lb+ bike gets. Wth engine & fuel tank low in the chassis, it can hold its own very well.

Ooh! Africa Twin! How was it?

I’m really looking forward to my MSF class in a month. Been eyeing stuff on the local craigslist...

What about the new CBR1000? I’m thinking of getting one in a year or two for a race bike.

Man, Honda’s getting cheap. They forgot to give that one bike a clutch!

I see. In other news, I’m adding another bike to the stable; a KTM 450 supermoto!

Awful lot of pictures of that fury. The more I saw of you on it, the more I would prefer a stateline. Too much chopper, not enough hotrod.

Unusual and strange but very easy to get used to.

Was still reaching for a clutch though

How did you like the Africa Twin? Adventure bikes intrigue me but my 30" inseam is too short for most.

Wait, is the Fury shaft drive? Has it always been that way? I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, just seems unusual for such a chopperish type of bike. I’d always assumed they were belt drive.

Yep, shaft. All of hondas cruisers are shaft drive, rebel being the exception
