Been binge listening to this as my driving song lately, thought I’d share as there’s no such thing as too much Rush

The joy of driving an old car in two stanzas.
Wind in my hair –
Shifting and drifting –
Mechanical music
Adrenalin surge –
Well-weathered leather
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve awar

I got to see them in late 2012 and it was amazing. Unfortunately it looks like no more touring since Neil Peart can’t really do it anymore with tendinitis issues.

This song holds up, even though it’s over 35 years old. I can never get enough.
It’s also good for an argument on ‘bar-chet-a’ versus ‘bar-ketta’, as well as if any red roadster qualifies for the unofficial title, or only an Italian one. Discuss.

Why do the gleaming alloy aircars, two lanes wide and capable of flying across the mountainside , get stranded at the river side by the one-lane bridge?

That album was one of my first CDs. I blame it for some of my hearing loss....

I’m a Rush fan and a car guy (as we all are in this discussion) and this argument angers me. I’ve been yelled at by other musicians (I’m also a drummer) that it’s pronounced ‘bar-chetta’. I tell them to go pound sand.

I caught the 2011 (I think) Moving Pictures performance in Cleveland. Despite my grumpiness about this song that I’ve shown in other comments, it was awesome to have seen it performed live.

If Geddy says ‘cheh’ then it must be ‘CHEH’!!!! haha....he’s Canadian after all. But I like the ‘k’, and it still sounds good singing it that way. (guitarist here, with some vox)

Yeah and Alex Lifeson apparently has pretty bad arthritis too. It’s a bittersweet ending to 40 years of awesome

It’s technically Bar-kett-a in Italian but no member of Rush is Italian and it’s not like no one knows what they’re talking about. Personally, I think Bar-chetta sounds better.
As for the difference between a barchetta and a standard roadster the only difference I can really justify is that barchettas traditionally have no doors.
I would still hold the Miata and Fiata as traditional barchetta torch bearers though

Red Barchetta is the best Rush
