Saw The Dark Tower Friday night (excellent), had a rummage sale Saturday (monies were made) got sick on Saturday night (allergic reactions suck), spent Sunday sick on the couch playing Minecraft (on the Wii U lel) and spent all morning trying to find a damn E85 station somewhere in the county I live in (other than the one near work that charges too much and pumps too damn slow).
I bought this keychain when I had my 2000 Neon, and I still have it for some reason

Solid weekend! I went flying for the first time in a plane I’ve always wanted to fly, a Cessna 172 Skyhawk. After I got over the abject terror of being in such a small craft that high up, it was fun! (also reppin’ Oppo/Jalopnik w/ the shirt)

I started the installation of a new French drain in our side yard. Much digging and hauling of dirt was done.

True story, I always wanted to be a pilot. Tried to join the Air Force and National Guard out of high school but found out that my shitty vision was not allowed, nor were my past health problems even IF I could see well enough.
My love for planes switched to cars, but I’d still love to learn to fly some day. Good on ya for getting to fly, and fly what you wanted.

I re-organized my garage to accommodate rummage tables. No room to work on the Trans Am (not that I was going to) and the truck doesn’t fit in there anyways, so no big loss I guess?

Good news is that you should still be able to get a private license with the vision issues! Thank God they’re not as stringent as the armed forces in that respect (I wear glasses/contacts)

I miss home ownership... but not for that reason. But kind of that reason? There’s something satisfying about fixing or upgrading something of that scale.

This was my facebook status last night:
Too much sugar today. Feeling like a bag of ass. But my sister Sabrina ’s nanner puddin’ was worth it.
She makes it with hot sauce and rum. Then she covers the top with grated chocolate. It’s amazing.
For my birthday dinner, my mom grilled salmon and shrimp, her almost-husband made a big salad with avocado, apple, and strawberry, and my sister brought nanner puddin’
And that’s the correct pronunciation. If you disagree with me, you’re wrong.

Ran two tough mudders over the weekend. They were my 18th and 19th events. Hoping for 25 by the end of the year!

Witnessed an Evo 8 make a 8.36 quarter mile pass at 181 mph yesterday.
Went to car shows on both Friday evening and all day Saturday.
Overall, it was busy.

I think I’ve sworn off of food after this last bout. I’m allergic to shellfish and had a big ol’ helping of sesame chicken, with an egg roll. I think my wife forgot to specify VEGGIE roll, because I think something in it (shrimp, crab, something along those lines) made my acid reflux flare up in a weird way.
I used to just pound food down yolo style, but no more. I haven’t eaten anything since I tried a muffin yesterday morning... oh and maybe 4 saltine crackers.

I’ll never for the life of me understand getting that dirty... I did a couple color runs and afterwards was like “....I don’t even want to TOUCH my car or anything I own now” and proceeded to was dye down the drain for the next few days in the shower.

I was trying to find one on my route to work and back, the only other one according to the useless internets is on the south side of Cedarburg, the other side of town from the covered bridge, but sometimes I drive that way to visit family so I guess I could make an excuse to see them :D

Saturday at work:
*phone rings*
Me: Star Motor Cars Volvo Parts, how can I help you?
Guy: yessIhavea 2012 I need a part I don’t know what it is
Me Ok. Do you need something for Volvo, Mercedes, Lotu....
Guy: Yes Volvo a 2012 4 doors
8 seconds of silence
Guy: it’s a Volvo 2012, let me text you a picture. Neither me or my mecha-nick know what it is. I send to you picture and you give me my discount price. You ship to me asap if you have it, if not, order for me. I am a dealer.
Me: *facepalm* (Guy’s shop is not in the system. Had to explain to him all the rules.... you know which ones)
(gave him my number to text me the image)
Guy: Ok I send it to you and VIN and you give me my price because I am a shop and I get cheapest price.
(sends text of PCV/oil filter housing)
I text him what part it was and the list price. Afterwards, again I explained that we don’t have convenience accounts, can’t give out part numbers, they have to build a purchase history before any discount is given, pre pay all special orders, no refund and all the other rules.
He texts me, “ oh fuck off then you bitch fucker! Faggot! You are faggot fucking all the day!”

It was somewhere between the bridge and the north side of Milwaukee/Brown Deer area. Definitely closer to the bridge. I was just following my friend that day. He came and got me, and then we drove to the bridge and then out to Holy Hill.

I miss those “I have a shop, what’s MY price?” guys down in Milwaukee. Usually some garage behind a house.
They never had a Wisconsin Tax Exempt code, never had a business license, never knew what they wanted or how to fix anything, always wanted free advice or a part number so they could cross-reference it at the Autozone down the street... Never got swore at like that though. Wow.

Probably the Speedway I passed this morning lol
Holy Hill has some nice driving roads around it, I grew up a bit out there listening to the horror stories of Hogsback Road.

I don’t mind it one bit. It mostly rinsed off at the event, then it was 30 minutes home and a good normal shower/scrub and I was good to go. Hell I even slid down the ski slope on my back on Sunday. Different strokes for different folks.

It’s a mixed bag. I’m tired come Monday morning, but there is a sense of accomplishment. There’s also some dissatisfaction when the job wasn’t complete. I guess I have something to do after work every night until it’s done. I just need the rain to stop so I can dig in something other than mud.

Oh keys.....
“I need a key for my car”
I need a title and photo ID with matching info
“I don’t have the title, its in my husbands name”
Then HE needs to come down for a key with it
“WE’RE GETTING A DIVORCE AND HE HAS THE CAR BUT ITS MINE! I NEED A KEY TO GET IT FROM HIS HOUSE!!!”
Uh, sorry ma’am, I can’t cut you a key for your ‘husband’s’ car, even if you weren’t going through a divorce
“WELL FUCK YOU AND FUCK THIS PLACE ANYWAYS” - storms out the door, the whole service drive bursts into laughter

On Saturday, my wife and I went to see Lyle Lovett at Music By The Lake in Williams Bay.
The original plan was to pick up some food at Gino’s Italian Deli here in Madison, drive to my mother-in-law’s in Burlington, then go to the concert, and sleep at MIL’s house. The timing of this plan meant I couldn’t go to the gym on Saturday.
Then on Saturday morning, the oldest of our 3 cats, who only pees on puppy training pads and not in the litter box, left a darker-than-usual pee on the pad, which got us all worried because it might’ve had blood in it. I called the vet, and this cat already happened to have an appointment scheduled for Wednesday, so there was a bunch of talk about monitoring the cat’s pee, and would we still go to the concert, etc.
Then, while I was shaving, my wife decided that to have less time away from the cat, we should skip going to her mom’s first, and leave later in the day, which meant that I actually could have gone to the gym if only I knew about this schedule change earlier and wasn’t in the middle of shaving.
We booked a last-minute appointment with our cat sitter to check in on them even though we’d only be gone overnight. I think there was some extra fee for booking last minute, but whatever.
We went to the concert, and the way it works is you park at the Williams Bay high school, and they have school buses to take you the 0.9 miles from the high school to the pavilion on the George Williams College campus. Which was fine on the way there, but on the way back there was a huge mass of people waiting for the bus, so we decided to walk. My wife had drank a bunch by this point and so I got stuck carrying way more crap than her, and she gave me shit for asking if there’s anything else she’s carrying, like, “YOU’RE THE BIG BURLY ONE WITH THE MUSCLES AND YOU’RE WHINING ABOUT CARRYING A COOLER????”
On the walk back to our car, she started out complaining about trudging up the hill, then tried to talk herself into being happy about walking because we weren’t still waiting for the bus like a bunch of saps, to being scared of the cars on the road and somehow thinking that she would get bit by a grass snake (which is apparently a real, non-venomous snake that lives in Europe and Asia , and not in Wisconsin), to thinking that the people behind us were negative jerks even though I didn’t hear them say anything.
We finally got back to the car, and to her mom’s house, where we slept, and then the next morning her mom did her usual routine of asking us to do random crap around the house because she’s disabled, but not actually asking and really more telling.
Then on the drive home my wife said “what I really want is some Culver’s but I shouldn’t because of all the food we had last night,” which I thought meant “nah, we should skip Culver’s,” but half an hour later she told me she was hungry and had to pee but I “wouldn’t let her” go to Culver’s even though she asked, so finally we stopped at a gas station where she went to the bathroom and got a granola bar.
Then we had a couple minor close calls where she screamed like a crazy person at me and the other drivers who caused the close calls, but made sure to tell me she’s not mad at me but these other drivers are FUCKING IDIOTS.
Eventually we made it home and the rest of the day was uneventful. All of the subsequent pee pad usages have been the normal color so apparently this was a one-off incident and no major concern.
(Normally my wife is much more cool and collected but the mix of the cat maybe being sick, her mom pushing her buttons, and her being a nervous passenger on highway trips was just a little too much for her.)
Concert was good though. And they had good ice cream there.

It has an 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. My wife was really excited to see it (she read the book), but after she saw the bad rating, she swapped our tickets to see Dunkirk instead. You really liked it; what do you think the reason is for the crappy reviews?

Critics gonna critique? It also grossed more this weekend than any other movie, I think because a lot of the fans don’t need a stinkin’ good review. None of King’s movie adaptations have done real well so I was prepared for that. I just HAD to see the movie, pile of steaming poop or not.
Although not a faithful adaptation of the book (it wasn’t meant to be in any way) it had enough easter eggs and shout outs to the books and King’s other works that made me happy... and not gonna lie, some of the scenes and dialogue gave me GOOSE BUMPS.
The ending kinda made me mad, but it also opens the door (or shall I say, PORTAL?!?!) for the TV series that’s in works, or a sequel or two.

My grandmother passed early Friday morning, so it was a big family meetup suturday and Sunday. She had been in lots of pain and with severe dementia, so at least she isn’t suffering. There have been a number of close calls over the last few months where I didn’t think she would pull through, so I was a bit more prepared for it to happen.
She always dreamed of getting an MG like her brother had after ww2
