For an unknown amount of time (one way ticket!) to follow in the footsteps of my dirty hippy parents. Are there any oppos south of the border that want to meet up?

I always see cool stuff on the street down there, so expect the ocassional dump of immaculate old datsuns and 2008 model cars you thought when out of production in the 70's.

Hopefully I don’t die in a Tsuru, though I guess there’s worse ways to go out. I kinda love those things. Maybe I’ll bring one back with me.

The way the Nissan emblem from the silver car spins and bounces off the floor is nice.

“so expect the ocassional dump of immaculate old datsuns” Depends on where you go... When I go to visit family down there most of the datsuns I see are beat to hell because they’re old work trucks. I saw one with out a grill, missing half its head lights and with each body panel from a different donor, but it was running and driving. What you will see a lot of are old nissan hardbody trucks, they’re every where

Stay away from the drugs down there. Don’t get too hammered. Practice common sense.

True it’s a big country haha. But I do tend to see a lot of like 70's Japanese cars running around that look like their owners really care.

Luckily neither of those things are my scene. I generally stay as far away from the party scene and big name tourist towns as possible (without straying into cartel country).

When is the last time you went to Mexico? It’s all cartel country now (has been for over a decade). Even the Zapatistas down in Chiapas have decided they can’t fight these guys. The good news is they don’t really give a shit about screwing with gringos. We are their biggest customers. What part of the country are you going to?

I mean I was in Michoacán in 2010 when there were military road blocks all over the place, and Mexico City in 2013 when there were definitely parts of the city you just do not go to. But I just mean like, there’s the places where it really is run by the cartel, and everywhere people are pretty much just living life as usual.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in Guanajuato for work lately. That area has always seemed pretty safe to me (although there were like 10 murders there last weekend)...

The Jalop scene is all old beetles, mini trucks, and Seat cars.

Definetly remember enjoying it last time I passed through there. I mean you see scary shit on the news, but people get shot in my neighborhood in Seattle on a pretty regular basis too. Most people here just get on with their lives anyway, and it’s the same in mexico.
