Alex and I are doing the 1,000-kilometer Maple Mille this September and we’re shopping for a new (to us) car to take on it! Primarily looking at small British sports cars. What would you like to see us drive on this rally/tour/adventure?
EDIT: Folks recommending fancy cars, we have like a $2-3k budget! But if anyone here wants to lend us an E-Type please do

Anything wrong with a Lotus Elan? That would be my pick.

Nothing besides the fact that they cost 10x our budget!

Not old enough. Rally is pre-1975

Or a Mustang II

Would we have to give it back?

Spitfire or MGB? Midget maybe? Or maybe something less of a typical sports car, like a Triumph Dolomite or a Triumph 2000.
![]() 08/03/2017 at 14:06 |

I guess I’d say MGB

Triumph Stag. And pronounce it like Clarkson’s “Jaaaaaaaag”.
![]() 08/03/2017 at 14:18 |
|
Didn’t Jensen-Healey production start in 1972?

may I propose.... a small suzuki hatchback. perhaps with a name that hints at speed such as one might need in a race?
![]() 08/03/2017 at 14:22 |

A motorcycle.
![]() 08/03/2017 at 14:24 |

Well yeah, and put it together....
![]() 08/03/2017 at 14:25 |

Only one car for it, MG B GT
Failing that, a Austin mini.
![]() 08/03/2017 at 14:37 |
|
Would be lots of fun but the rally is Pre-1975 cars.

1) Find a rusted out 240z
2) Use duct tape and adjustable clamps to shore up the rusted-out frame/body/suspension
3) Pretend it’s a Jag

Even rusted out Z’s are $5k now

I think you should go Miata. It’s the best british roadster ever made and it’s parts are legos.

It isn’t and we won’t. Plus, the rally is pre-1975.
