The 2017 Chrysler 300s is a good car(Mini-Review featuring some other German stuff)

After driving the 300s something like 400 miles in 4 days including to and from the airport, a trip to downtown Denver from Colorado Springs for a concert, and a spirited drive up pikes peak, I decided I liked the 300s. The gray color wit the Bronze wheels was a fantastic and mean look. The Beats Audio sounded nice in conjunction with the UConnect(except the 1 day it decided it just wanted the U but not to Connect). The Pentastar was pretty good for everything except 2 lane passing where the Hemi would have been nice. The 8 speed transmission would hunt for gears occasionally but was usually right. The seats were pretty darn comfy and the seat heaters would bake your back. The ride was a bit jumpy at times on the concrete highways but it was the S model so I bet the C is comfort. Enjoying my drive up Pikes Peak I never lost traction. Would hear the tires chirping but never got the back end out, even when I tried. Knob placement was tricky as I turned the air up a lot instead of the radio, which spurred a laugh from the wife every time. Part of this car is still old Mercedes so other German stuff follows.

Over all, it is a good car.

Here’s a M5 550i(I think that’s what that says?)because people are stupid.

Also here’s one of the few Mercedes that my dad works on with fresh rear rubber because apparently these eat rear tires for some strange reason. I’ll let you know if we find out why. This man also owns a CTS Wagon and old Italian cars. He’s cool.

You had me until Beats Audio, Beats is utter shit. Too much bass no matter how much you change the EQ.

They are more than decent cars for the money, certainly one of the few non-SUV/non-pickup bright spots in the ailing FCA empire. At this point, the LX cars have been in production long enough that you figure the problems have mostly been ironed out, they’re basically the modern equivalent of the old M-bodies at this point.

My Challenger has been fine (knock on wood) so far. A little over a year and 30,000 miles. Only problem so far has been a slipped belt in one of the tires, which I can’t really pin on FCA US, since they don’t make tires.

Also, UConnect selectively connects to my BlackBerry at times, but I have the same issue with Ford’s Sync. But, according to Consumer Reports, an occasional annoyance with cell phone connectivity is exactly the same as catastrophic engine failure.

The weirdest thing about the 300s was the fact that the 4 vehicles I drove after having gotten off the plane were the 300s, then a Polaris Ranger, then a Polaris RZR, then a Focus ST on a test drive, and then the 300s and the smoothest and most comfortable ride belonged to the Focus ST. It didn’t make sense but that little hatchback won my wife’s seal of approval. Other then that I was really shocked at the 300. It really is a good car, not great, but good.

Trust me, you want the “upgraded audio” and the Beats is it on the S. (C gets a HK system and the dodge brothers get Alpine). The standard setup is much worse.

I like upgraded audio, but not beats audio. I’ve been running a sound board for almost 4 years now, I just upgraded from some old Yorkville Elites E1152's to some killer Behringer B115W’s.

I agree that beats is terrible. I was just giving some perspective on the base setup in the cars. The beats is the better option in this case. (if it matters any, I think the alpine and beats system is the same exact setup, just beats has a rear mount sub)

I’m a bit jealous at you and your toys.
