Finally Got the Suburban Home

After getting tires, a belt, (possibly not needed) coolant flush, battery, and (verrrrryyyy much needed) oil change, we made it home. Today was much less eventful than yesterday, though there still were some issues. The biggest issue right now is an electrical issue in the trans that causes hard(firm and solid, not slipping) shifts when up to operating temperature. When it’s cold it shifts fine. Other than that, we averaged a massive 8.7 mpg, which is better than Jake’s XJS.

Other than the faded lights, the exterior is in near perfect condition. The interior is in similarly good condition, except for the driver’s seat. Apparently one of the previous owners was a solid 400-500lbs, because the seat is crushed and the arm rest is broken off to the side from the inside(it took part of the seat with it),

Most of their trucks do it to some extent. Mine definitely does.

That said it really doesn’t make a difference, just looks kinda funny

My S-10's both did it big time. I’ve never noticed on my Sierra or any of the newer trucks ... although that doesn’t mean it isn’t there!

Trans issue may not be electrical. Ive owned a few trucks that lived previous lives pulling every day and the trans starts to do that. Id do a fluid flush and see if that helps

It only starts to do it after a few miles, and everything we’ve seen points to some sort of electrical issue.

An “electrical issue” like a worn valve body or sticking solenoids or worn clutches or degraded fluid maybe

Could be the solenoids, but it only does this after a certain amount of drive time, after the vehicle starts. Even if you start it up, drive til it starts to hard shifts, turn it off, then start over again immediately, it shifts smooth at first.

It won’t be daily driven, and when it does get driven will be 45mph back roads, not stop and go. So it should be fine. If my Dad doesn’t want to drive it to town for gas reasons, I’ll be happy to let him reap the 12mpg from my 4Runner.
