I just moved back to Texas this week for a new job and got my windows tinted after having my car for a year in Chicago.
I went with 30% all round to stay legal and even got the windshield tinted which I hadn’t on my previous car. I also splurged and got ceramic tint instead of the basic film. The steering wheel and all other surfaces now only get warm instead of being like fire when I get in. The look is fantastic but the function exceeded my expectations. No more being cheap and going with the basic tint anymore for me.

Brother, you picked a heck of a time to immigrate. Yes, some things you don’t skimp on. This is one.

I recently did 35% all around. I went with their best standard tint, 3m Premium Series. I figure if I need to remove it since NY now ties the annual inspection to window tint, and basically and anything less than 70% is illegal (FUCK NY), I wont be out too much money.
35% is a good compromise I think, not too dark to attract po-po and still decently effective at reducing heat. I love darker (20%) tint for looks and privacy, but I think it reduces visibility too much at night.

Yeah, I’ve only ever moved in Texas summers. Maybe someday I’ll have the choice to move in less than 100 degree heat.

I love dark tint as well and had 5% on my back windows of my last car but wanted to keep it all the same this time as I think it looks better that way. The increased visibility is nice too as I could hardly see out of my windows before.

Totally agree, I’m all about uniformity. Although, the front door windows will always look lighter thanks to the windshield.

Well at least you’re not surprised by it.
