Question: Are there any good viewing spots from OUTSIDE of Airventure to watch the airshow from? I see there are some parks nearby to the north of the airfield, but I’m afraid many others will have the same idea and flood the streets and parks.... is this the case? Anyone wanna do a little recon for me?

Honestly, I’d pay the $ and get a front row seat. In the photo above, not zoomed, the runway is the 2nd strip of concrete behind the aircraft. All of the action takes place above it more or less. You can easily get a front row seat.
That said, if you’re not going in, maaaaybe a spot on the north side would work. Better yet, find a building to get on top of. The airport has trees on most sides except North. The overpasses on 41 probably have so so views, but they’ve got police on them, I think.
I used to live near the Chicago Air and Water Show- 2 miles due west- and had a decent view from my rooftop.
