I bought the car needing an engine, which I gave it, from LKQ. Started right up. Then it turns out that the trans was missing a couple of its forward gears. I got another trans from LKQ, and I’m still fighting with them about it... I am having fun. The hardest part was figuring out where to hook the chain to the transmission.

Does the versa have a clean title? If so this is a very profitable job, or just a really good deal on a gently used car

The title is clean. 67k miles on the chassis. $1,500 for the car, $800 for the engine and about $1,200 for the transmission, which includes moneys paid to the local transmission shop to get the new trans ready to go and lots of $8/qt Nissan Matic S trans fluid. Engine and trans came from LKQ and have 30k miles on them each.

And a crap ton of my labor. The car would have been much more profitable if the transmission had been serviceable, but even if it had been, I’d have had to spend about $300 on it.

So in all, I got a good deal on it. I’ll probably sell it to my daughter for grad school next year.
