If I haven’t already, I recommend the living daylights out of this series, new and old!
Not car-related, but with the second Yamato 2202/(Star Blazers 2202 in ‘Murica) movie out, the only part they needed to get right was the launch seen, and they fraking killed it. Out of the entire film, this 30 seconds was the only part I desired to see.
Here’s a sped-up gif comparison of the same scenes from 1978 and 2017:
1978's Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato: In the Name of Love
The glorious modern retake in 2017's Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love
The best part: I get the same feeling of excitement, hype, and nostalgia seeing both versions side-by-side.

Another anime fan! You over on AniTay? They’re very nice and have put me on to some great shows.

The old version has probably a lot slower framerate but I still like the style a lot more.

a kinja sub-blog. It’s an anime-based offshoot of “TAY” which stands for “Talk Amongst Yourselves.”
I get my news about brand new stuff from there, most of which I honestly don’t enjoy too much. Except Berserk of course...
