I found a can on sale for $4, so I bought it as a temporary fix so I can run the Gambler 500 (Southeast) before I actually change the gasket, if I run out of time. But anyway, it wasn’t until I got out to the car that I realized the damn beads are missing. I’m not sure what they do, though.... Are they vital to the repair? If not, I’m content with a slightly inferior fix since I saved $11 on it. But if it won’t work at all, I’ll need to go return the thing and get to work changing the gasket.

Change the gasket. If you use the sealer you’re probably looking at a new heater core and radiator.

I thought about using something like that in my old Cougar, but I was too afraid that it would be ineffective and make the actual repair even harder.

If changing the gasket is an option, this. 100%. Don’t waste your time with the schmoo in a bottle.

I’ve heard nothing but snake oil and even making things worse when stuff like that was used. I haven’t heard anything positive but this could be a first, I hope?

f it’s a small leak, it might seal it for a while. It’s a temporary fix for getting a car the extra few thousand miles. If it leaks again later, re-goo-ing isn’t likely to work and you’ll just be dealing with a clogged heater core/radiator.

How bad is the head gasket? I think the only way I’d use the stuff is if it wasn’t leaking much, compression was good, and I couldn’t do the HG myself or pay someone else to.

that shit is only an option to keep the thing running long enough to sell it. Never use it on something you intend to keep.

If you’re planning on a whole engine rebuild then go for it. If not don’t fucking do it. Previous owners of my Jeep did it and it took me months to get my cooling sustem right. I was too lazy to replace the heater core it clogged up.

Don’t do it. As others have said, it will gunk up the entire cooling system.

You want K-Seal, not Prestone junk. Gamble on.

Anyone else notice that Prestone radiator flush and Anti Rust/water pump lubricant had disappeared from Walmart and Autozone shelves?
