It wasn’t long ago that I was sporting a 21.5", a 22" TV, and a 19" 4:3.

Battlestation Enterprise is coming along nicely.

Sometimes. At work our main application, Trapeze, has a ton of columns, and wider is definitely better in that case. But on many web sites, like this one, I’d rather have 4:3 to minimize the amount of dead space off to the left. Reading magazines and other documents are better in 4:3, especially in portrait mode. I keep an older, higher-end Dell 1600x1200 (well, 1200x1600 when pivoted) 20" monitor around for just such needs, hooked up as a third screen.

I also prefer my tablets in 4:3. Watching video is great in 16:9, but for the other 90% of the time I’m using the device I want 4:3.

True, but having windows side-by-side is good.

If the space is used efficiently, yes.

I kept an old black and white portrait monitor around for years, even on newer computers, because it was great for writing and page layout, usually as a third screen.

Newer isn’t always better, and I still grab these high-res 4:3s when I find them at a good price (usually $10 or less).

I’m a big fan of the vertical monitor. Hopefully kinja doesn’t. Screw me over on the picture

I love these old ads. Such artistic license, so inaccurate and misleading.

I should understand more about manipulating wideness ... but I like big. 24" Vizio serves as Mac Mini monitor, 42" Pioneer Kuro plasma (dumb TV but astonishing picture) is our TV.

Yiss. I love me some Pacer. In my future oddball car collection there will be at least one, preferably with an I6. Maybe it should be retrofitted with a rotary to approximate the designer’s original vision.
