So I posted if I should get an SS, overwhelmingly and unsurprisingly the response from Oppo was “Do it you idiot!” So I did.

I also posted that the I had a couple options of where to buy but there were issues with interest rates vs trade in values promised. Anyway I was offered 3.89% for 60 months on a $30,000 loan and $40,000 for trade in if vehicle was as clean as pictures indicated. I had a certificate from Chase for another dealership 3 hours away for 2.02% at 48 months but trade in offer was only $37,000.

I made the 8 hr drive from Corpus Christi, TX to New Orleans, LA ready to play hardball with the first dealership. Well less than 30 minutes discussing with finance they were able to honor the 2.02% and full $40k for trade in...

Vehicle far exceeds my expectations:

The color is unbelievable in the sun in person.

The sound is intoxicating, pops and burbles when decelerating.

Mag ride is comfortable yet stiff enough in sport/performance mode to enjoy handling.

From the driver’s seat the vehicle feels smaller and lighter than the outside indicates.

trim models like the SS are just a perfect way to show how a generic car can look good with just a few minor changes to bumper designs and such.

Sweet! Not to dis your ride, I’m sure the performance is worth it, but don’t you find that the paint and chrome is extremely thin looking. When I looked at it on the showroom floor, it looked kinda thin, sorry to be negative, I’m sure the ride and performance is worth it I just wondered if I was picky.

ANd good on you for having a good dealership story. I had a good experience for my FoST too. Not quite the same since every other dealership wanted to rake my ass over hot coals and basically convinced me not to do it, but the dealership I got my FiST from basically made it all happen in 15 minutes. Manager even came by, saw me in my ST shirt, and on the spot said if I offered up 500$ cash to help with the down payment, the dealership would match it.

There are some good ones out there, they’re just difficult to find sometimes. I feel like Oppo/Jalopnik should make a list of “approved” dealerships and salespeople. That way people who aren’t big car nuts could have a halfway decent experience without worry.

Yeah I read about your ST upgrade. Good on you, I looked at both when they came out and although the media outlets rave on how fun the FiST is, I prefer the FoST if I had to drive one everyday. That torque is fun.

For sure. I haven’t posted the completed thoughts yet, but one of my observations was that when I had the FiST during the first year or two, I was seeking out autocrosses and the like every weekend. If you do that, the FiST makes a TON of sense over the FoST. But if you only do a handful a year? You’ll get more out of the refinement of the FoST than you will the eagerness of the FiST.

How about you and the SS? Any plans for track days and the like? Or just cruise the tires off of it?
