Fake glass on the new Regal! I don’t mind, because liftback

MUCH BIGGER FLAW
In the words of Sesame Street - One of these things is not like the other.
I get you don’t have big dual piston calipers in the rear, no need for it. But can they both be red at least please? Looks like a lazy driveway upgrade where the owner decided not to do the rears.

Compared to the last gen Camry, this looks fine to me.

If it’s not fake glass, it’s fake vents, not RWD, not V8, is lifted with plastic cladding around the wheels and lower valances, looks too much like certain other cars, etc...
Lol.

I’ll admit that DLO fail caught my eye within a millisecond. I don’t like it.

Needs more crest.

Meh.

lol indeed.
“if they made it RWD I would buy it” is the funniest

I agree: small concession in face of liftbackingness.

Not as many will for this as did when the Accord did the same thing..

That’s an Oldsmobile crest, we’re not building an Alero here lol.

The official term for this is DLO (daylight opening) FAIL.
There are several grades of DLO FAIL to me.
DLO FAIL I - not a window, but relatively small, not really trying to impersonate a window and more just a bit of trim modifying the outline of the windows
DLO FAIL II - trying to be a fake window but not offensively sticking out from the design of the windows
DLO FAIL III - large pieces of glass that are either in front of itty bitty DLOs or no DLO at all
DLO FAIL IV - painfully obvious that it is not a window thanks to either mismatched materials, ugly, poorly integrated design, or both.
The design of the Regal’s windows and DLO FAIL are nearly identical to the 2nd gen Mazda 6, but the material of the DLO FAIL looks to be a closer match for glass than the matte black plastic on the 6. So it’s a low-grade DLO FAIL II.

We can have aftermarket louvers mod maybe?

But why?! Whats a point of not making this a proper window in this case? Not only cheapens it the design, its also creating a huge c-pillar.

Necessary concession to style.

I ain’t gonna whine, I’m gonna laugh because apparently the entire industry sent out an internal memo about partial-glossy black C/D-pillars a couple years ago. Lexus RX and Nissan Murano are the worst offenders, but they’re all on the bandwagon somehow.

Saw my first one today (not called a Regal here, mind...) and I didn’t notice.

Yeah, I’ve never seen a situation where the fake glass looked better than if it was just painted sheet metal. This is still one of those.
