I decided it was time to clean my garage some, and flip around the project so that it is facing the right way to get going on the 13B installation and also be easy to back out for welding and body panel skin modifications.

Here she is:

Here’s an idea of the body mods I need to do in the back:

Kinja'd!!!

I’m going to stick with the stock NA tails and just extend the body work around them. Biggest thing is that the Miata rear end dips down and tucks inward. The MX3 doesn’t dip down or tuck as much. I’ll get it soon enough though.

Yeah I was hoping this project was still chugging along :)

Looks vaguely 924-ish in profile, which is definitely a good thing :)

Nice to see you’re still on it! have you considered using a mx-3 rear panel and adapt it (using the mx-5 taillights of course)? Might be easier to get the hatch closing right.

Also, is this a mx-4 then?

Didn’t know you were also 13B swapping it! That makes this project even more awesome!

91 S5 13B no less. Still debating if I want to go carbed or stick with pre-mx and fuel injected with megasquirt.

I’m working on locating an MX3 shell I can cut panels off of.

Carbed would be awesome, but I’m thinking fuel injection would be more fitting to the era of the mx-3/mx-5. It could almost be a ‘what if’ car if you make it fuel injected.

I was thinking that the other day when I looked at an old 924 ad. Slow and steady for sure. Hopefully picking up some steam now though.

I have the whole fuel injection harness and computer for the RX7. I just can’t use the OMP with the early front cover I want to use.

Nice little project, looks like a Porsche 924 mated with a rx7 FB from the side profile.

It’s starting to to look so much like a fc mixed with fd, soon with the 13b, it’ll just become an rx7 lol

The hatch glass got broken over the winter, I stored the car outside.  I’m pretty upset about that.  But I’m not ready to give up on it yet.  I have too many projects as of late though.

I might consider going with a lexan/polycarb rear window.  I know they did a group buy back when I was an MX3 owner.

Hate to be the one to resurrect this, but did you ever get some type of glass on there? Such a neat build.
