The problem is no one could agree on what to do and the teams kept shooting everything down. Glad the FIA decided to force-implement this and in all honesty, this needed to happen sooner rather than later. Maybe now the teams will take this seriously and try to come up with something better.

True, I would have rather seen a set of requirements and then told to teams figure out how to implement something that passes these impact tests, much like the nose regulations. Then the aero/chassis guys can add it to their list and make something that works for their package.

It’s primarily meant to stop wheels, and other cars, from intruding into the cockpit. I don’t think they are concerned about small bits of wing and carbon fiber.
