The cynic in me wants to think that he would have retired already if that were the case. So I’ll just assume he loves the job and keeps busy instead.

My grandfather worked in the oil industry for 70 years. He definitely did that because he wanted to, I’m sure it’s the same for this guy.

I’m going to assume that as well. Plus, it sounds like they don’t really need the guy and are just letting him keep the job as long as he wants it.

He’s probably forgotten more about aircraft maintenance than anyone else will ever know.
That’s not a backhanded compliment, the guy’s been maintaining planes for 75 years, he knows a lot of shit. Some of the aircraft models he’s worked on don’t even exist anymore.

Reminds me of a story recently on the news about a 91yo woman that still works as a registered nurse. Kudos to them for being able to keep going for so long!
