My wife loved hers
But the 2.0T can burn oil and the Passat had weird electrical issues. Like one morning we went outside to find the hatch had opened during the night - after having locked up the car and put the keys on the hook where we always kept them.
It was reasonably smooth and quick for a family wagon though.

Selling because I had intended to use this vehicle for winter, but winter is over and the car is just sitting as I am driving my Porsche in the summer.
I love this. It reads as if he believes Winter isn’t coming back, so...

The Jetta we got rid of last fall was of the same era (2005.5) and it was the worst piece of shit I’ve ever owned. Turned me off of VW for good.

Nice car! Baby the shit out of it, and fix everything as it breaks. Maintenance can be pricey, but stick with the 505 01 oil and do 10k oil changes. If you can afford it, do it and utilize the fuck outta that umbrella pocket. If your a cheap ass like me, run.
lol I like how the ad makes a timing chain service sound normal.

It’s a vw with higher miles... I’d run. Your choice

I don’t have cash to keep throwing at it perpetually, so that might be a pass.

Too bad it’s not a W8. I saw a W8 passat 4 motion yesterday, running. It’s like seeing a sasquatch in the wild.

Then we don’t need Passats; we need these.

It’s as good as your wallet is deep.
Are you a professional VW mechanic by chance?

No, but the current owner is.

What a genius way to make money. It’s like selling you a subscription to VW parts.

Had a 2007 Passat 2.0T a few years ago. It was pretty dependable.
Granted, it’s much older now.

This is my ideal car. Even though all the equipment can lead to more frequent repairs, the VR6 is generally pretty solid. I’d take this in a heartbeat, it’s a real sleeper. They just don’t really make anything like this anymore unless you want to spend Volvo V90 money ($$$). I say just keep a healthy expectation and maintenance reserve just in case, but I’d drive this just as soon as I’d drive any 10-year-old car. A much better decision than a similarly-powered W8 Passat from the prior generation.
EDIT: I even said to myself “I’d pay up to $6500 for this” and clicked the link, $6500. Nice.
