Drove for eight and a half hours across the prairies yesterday. This hill was the most exciting part, other than getting buzzed by a plane and pulling into the driveway.

Wow, that looks worse than driving through Ohio.
How did you not just hammer down and end up doing triple digits?

Well, Canada uses kilometers, so he probably was doing triple digits at some point.

That’s not bad — you’ve got trees, clouds, water. When I did the drive across Kansas and Missouri (I-70), I think it was a cloudless day and the one tree was in a Tree Museum outside of Russell, KS, right next to the giant statue of Bob Dole. It was glorious and really gave us a sense of how fast we were actually going in a 1.6-liter Sentra, which was about 110, but felt like 60.

Consider that several hours of that drive were something like this .
What stops you from doing triple (mph) digits? Manitoba is sticky as fuck about speed. I guess there’s nothing better to do... and it’s super low hanging fruit, what with the place being one big (albeit well potholed) drag strip.
That may or may not have failed to prevent me from taking my truck to ~130mph once or twice though

I’m not a fan of the prairies. Afaic the drive from T.O. to Manitoba takes 20-21 hours... from Ontario to Winnipeg takes a couple days

One of my favourite things about Saskatchewan is how there are multiple big signs letting you know that you’re coming up to a turn in 500m or so.
