Yeah, Hammer usually hides when visitors are here too. The funny thing is, the person he is most afraid of, who he will actually hiss at, is my buddy who absolutely loves cats.

Tazz was a feral kitten - we trapped her at 12 weeks and tamed her, so she’s buddy buddy with us and thinks of us more a giant other cats than as ‘master’ - but if ANYBODY else comes, she hides and stays hidden until well after they are gone. The only person she comes out for is one friend of the family (who doesn’t come that often at all), but who has been here 4-5 times since we got the cat and has stayed for hours, so Tazz ventured out once as she was hungry and will timidly come out to at least eat when she is around. :)

Hammer was also a feral kitten. He was found by a friend of a friend trapped in an abandoned car in a farm field. We think he was 8-9 weeks old, but he only weighed one pound. He was tame from the get-go, and nuzzled right up to our oldest, who was 6- months old at the time.

He comes out for some people, but usually not. Even my friend who he usually hisses at, he will sometimes be fine with. He’s a weird cat.
