For the first time in over 10 years, the 931 briefly fires up and I’m overjoyed!!
There were two major issues in getting it started:
1. The positive cables to the starter and alternator were crispy burnt and trash. So the old ones were cut and new and thicker gauged cables were spliced in that brings it up to the standard of later 944s.
2. Fuel pressure wasn’t strong enough to get it started at home. That is to say that I couldn’t get the new pump installed with the hoses to maintain pressure, it was leaking.
The fuel distributor will be cleaned and the car made to run reliably. The cooling system will be tested to see if it holds pressure and works then it’ll be put on the road for it’s first test drive.
Much of happenings in the next few months with the car.

So we narrowed it down to the top two stoppers from starting, but we didn’t have the tools or parts to get it close. But we can pat ourselves on the back!

Yup! Sometimes you just hit a roadblock and it can’t be helped, but it’s good to poke around and find that roadblock so that you’ll know what the next step is. Saves a lot of time and trouble.
