I would post pics but I don’t want to look at it long enough to take them.....This weekend we had friends staying at our place, and i was working on building some new speakers in the garage so I had the STi parked under my deck. One of our friends put is pint glass (full of homebrew) on the railing of the deck right over my car then procceded to swing his arms and knock it right off on to the roof of the STi. Wasting a full beer, breaking a pint glass i liked and worst of all leaving a sharp dent in my roof right before the windshield....if it would have only hit the glass.
As I was coming to terms with this, I noticed this morning my trash can was knocked over and next to my car. Turns out last night a Bear tried to get into our trash and decided to toss the wild life resistant trash cart right into my driver side door and fender.
SO option 1 call insurance get both fixed....and get the front bumper resprayed to cover all the rock chips.
option 2 fuck it call it a rally car put more dents in it and start entering it in RallyX, Sliver State Classic and maybe a Virginia City Hill Climb?
Some of option 2 could be done with a niceish car too....
I was all about option two until i saw a post here yesterday, with a 07 STi with crazy high miles going for $17k+....mine still at 88k miles and hasn’t been to the body shop yet.

Get it fixed. It will be a happy car again and you will feel better about driving it. The dent on the roof can be attributed to the bear.

STi’s maintain their value like crazy. I’d never fathom paying anywhere close to that for a used one, but apparently a lot of people do.
That said - enjoy it how you want! If you repair it, you’re going to probably be particular about it and worry about it getting future damage. Or, if you let it go a bit, you can have more fun with it without as much worry for future damage.

Yeah that would be nice, get it all in one go...I need to call my insurance company today.

When they write the claim “Hit by a beer, then hit by a bear. Bear not drunk.”

You issue is near and dear to my heart.
I dented my roof when my kayak accidentally flopped the cradle over rather violently. I’m still not sure the root cause, if the cradle worked itself loose, or if some a-hole helped it along while I was camping, just to be an anarchist.
I took it in to be repaired, but when they described the approach, I changed my mind. The prescribed approach (at least in my situation) was to cut the roof clean off and weld a new unit in place. I thought that was a little drastic, likely to impact overall rigidity, and possibly come out not looking so good. The cost (to my insurance company) was going to be about $7k, which sounded like a real hit to future premiums.
So instead I’ve lived with it, and it bothers me less with each passing day.

My co-worker had the word “PIMP” keyed into his 04 WR Blue STi when it was two years old. It’s still there, he still drives it to work.
I had an entire window and frame fall on my Silverado once. But I made the guy who did it by accident pay for it, my Dad. Huhuhahaha evil laugh.

Just drive it and fix it when you want to sell. If you decide to get started in rally, that is a very expensive platform to hack up, cage, and potentially wreck...not to mention you will instantly be in much more competitive classes. And believe me...you don’t want to rally anything you can’t walk away easily financially speaking.

This is my fear, there’s no way to fix it in a way I will be happy with

My WRX has been taking a beating lately. I just discovered a new scratch & dent on the passenger-side rear door at lunch today.
I had to help my mom deal with her insurance when she scraped a bollard. There was some other damage to the same bumper cover and trim on the opposite side of the car, but the insurance company refused to do anything about it without her filing a separate claim with a separate deductible. Bastards. It was cheaper to pay for the trim replacement out of pocket than pay a second deductible.

Nah, they’ll get things mixed up and soon the police will be there to arrest him for drinking beer while driving from the roof, losing control of the car and hitting a bear.

Well maybe it’s time for a Spec C Aluminum roof panel.
