How oblivious are these people? You see a cop coming right up on your ass and you don’t bother to move over or react? Even after being lit up he doesn’t react for 15 seconds, does not even move out of the way. This is basic driving 101: A cop lights you up, move over or pull over immediately. This non reaction by this driver will one day get his ass beat by cops who think he’s trying to ignore them.

those tints are so dark, I wouldn’t be surprised he/she saw nothing. Also probably was hiding behind tints to secretly use phone for nefarious reasons

Awesome!

But why did the cop start camping out in the left lane himself immediately afterward?

If anything, pull’em over just to waste their time.

Its one thing to drive in the left lane, its another to block traffic in the left lane and not yield way to faster traffic. All dependent on how the law is written.

This reminds me of some footage I still need to post. Only in this case, once the oblivious driver in the left lane finally realized there was a cop with lights on behind him, he proceeded to slow and pull LEFT. He needed to be bitch slapped.

It’s a passing lane. The cop will be passing most people and most people won’t pass a cop, even a slow one driving in the middle or right lane.

Exactly. I think 9 times out of 10 people are not being passive aggressive, they are just completely oblivious to their surroundings and not paying attention.

At least some states are changing the way this could be handled. I know some states already have something like this in place.

Dummy’s in a RSX no less. Why aren’t there tickets for mandatory license re-testing? Don’t suspend their license, they drive anyway. Make them pass their driving test again or face criminal charges, not civil.

It’s not a passing lane. It’s a faster moving traffic lane

Depends on the state. In most states I’m driving in, the signs on the interstate read either “Left Lane for Passing Only,” or “State Law All Vehicles Keep Right Except to Pass.”

Both of those mean the left lane is not a “faster moving traffic lane,” it means the left lane is a passing lane. You are required to move right after passing.

There’s also signs that say the speed limit and those are also not meaningful. Take a moment and think which is safer a line of cars moving smoothly ten miles faster than the cars to the right or bunch of cars bouncing in and out of the middle lane. #zippermerge

Go take a look at how it’s done on the Autobahn. They go much faster and have lower accident rates, partly because of design, partly because they enforce the laws - including the ones that require you to move right after passing.

That line of cars camping in the left lane is not safe when someone going faster passes on the right because the campers don’t move over.

“If you think the left lane on Washington highways is the fast lane, you’re wrong. And you face a $136 ticket if you violate the law.

“There is no fast lane in Washington. It’s a passing lane,” Washington State Patrol Trooper Brooke Bova said.” King5

There are plenty of other articles from other states if you bother to look.

If what you wrote was true then every car in the left lane at rush hour would be getting ticketed.

Your logical fallacy is Strawman. At no point did I praise left lane camping

Every state also makes exceptions for rush hour. Get your head out of your ass. If the traffic is flowing but you are camping out in the left lane and causing cars to stack up behind you, then you deserve a ticket. The cars stack up because they want to go faster than you, even if you are doing 10 mph over the speed limit. But you are acting like one of those assholes who think they are leading the charge or setting the pace. Really, those of us who want to go faster just want you to get the hell out of the way. Move over.

This happens all the time on the interstate and it drives me crazy. I just want to knock their lane-blocking asses off the road.

The laws are really clear, but some people are too stupid or too obstinate to recognize their own behavior is causing other people trouble. Even if you are going 10mph over the speed limit, if you are camping in the left lane, you are no better than the asshole who does that at the speed limit. There are other people who want to go faster than you and can’t because of you. Get out of the way.

Yeah, no. There’s no exception for rush hour. Please stop making things up to support your claims. I’ve never said dont move over for faster vehicles, that’s the angry voices in your head. I said dont change lanes for no reason

Do you bother to look anything up on your own or do you depend on others to spoon feed everything to you? Here’s an excerpt from the Oklahoma version of this law which specifically allows exceptions during high-traffic conditions.

“a vehicle shall not be driven in the left lane except when overtaking and passing another vehicle; provided, however, this paragraph shall not prohibit driving in the left lane when traffic conditions, flow, or road configuration, such as the potential of merging traffic, require the use of the left lane to maintain safe traffic conditions.”

Other states have similar verbiage.

The problem with what you have stated so far is that campers often can’t tell that the person behind them wants to pass because the person behind them is courteous enough to give them ample time to move over on their own. When they do flash their lights in a request to pass, it’s often interpreted as “road rage” or “aggressive driving” and they keep camping to “teach them a lesson.” Go read some of the many articles that have been posted about this problem and you will see those words quoted in interviews of left lane campers.

The reason you should change lanes is because it’s the courteous thing to do, it lets faster traffic pass without having to wait for you to move over, and it’s the law.

Um, yeah that excerpt actually doesn’t say anything except you can drive in the left lane in more conditions than you can’t. Look up how traffic congestion works and why a wasted lane of traffic makes it worse
