On the bright side, you didn’t have to swap the UJ on the side of the road, in the middle of the night, in the pissing down rain, with only a pair of long nose pliers and a rock...

I don’t see shattered caps in the ears so what is the problem? U-Joints are fun to do. And, that is a driveshaft - hour long job max.

Be glad your driveshaft has replaceable U-joints. Some aren’t so lucky.

Found them binding really badly when I had the shaft out to rebuild the transmission. I don’t mind doing them, but one was rusted in pretty good, and  time is at a premium for me, especially this week. I’ve had to spend and do a lot on this old thing lately, it’s become a little tiresome to keep up with.

I am thankful for that, coming from the land of European cars which don’t have replaceable joints (with the exception of old Volvos).

Yeah. I found literally every UJ in the truck binding when I had everything out for the trans. Freakin’ old trucks.

Not past tense, WANT that Tundra :) Or at least something newer that’s a better family 4x4.

Hence the preventative maintenance. It could always be worse, but given what I’ve been through on this truck lately, it’ll find some new and interesting way to bone me soon enough. Driving 800 miles fully loaded this weekend through 100F temps, guess I’ll find out.

Yeah, one thing always leads to three more.
