Always thought they were cool little cars. I had the 8 valve model. No Sportbak option. Car handled surprisingly well.

That’s hilarious. You googled Pulsar Sportback and got the EXACT CAR YOU SAW.

Some 20+ years ago, I almost purchased one of these. I think the reason I passed on it was that my feet were too big for the footwell of an automatic and despite the T-Top it wasn’t a sportsback.

I ended up with a Buick Skyhawk 4MT as my 1st manual car.

Until very recently, there was one around the corner from me for years. This post made me realize I haven’t seen it for a week or two now.

My sister had one of these for a couple years. It didn’t have the Sportbak, it was absurdly slow, and the windows always leaked a little due to the T-tops. But the previous owner had kept it in great shape. The paint was nearly immaculate, and the interior was flawless. Previous owner had also done aftermarket radio with a 10" subwoofer, which was a big deal for the early 00's, you know. It was a head-turner when zipping around with the T-tops off; my sister felt like a million bucks while driving it (except while going up steep hills).

It was starting to significantly burn oil and the heater core was leaking when it was totaled in a crash. Probably the best end it could’ve had, because it really wasn’t worth doing those major repairs.
