One of the prettiest FWD bodies out there. Pontiacs always had good shapes but the cladding always muddied the look. The GTP is a perfect example of how much sharper the design is without the excess.

Keep Oppo GXP as well.

The only down side to these is they don’t always age gracefully:

Even with the positive “best car I ever owned” reviews, you can see that there are common issues with the HVAC blower motor, fuel pump and some of the gaskets:

This is the type of car that can be good to own if you’re willing to do your own homework, some of your own wrenching and not skimp on preventative maintenance. They don’t stand up as well to neglect as something like a Corolla or Camry would.

Much like every car, it all matters if it’s been abused. The only major thing these cars are known for are intake gaskets and transmissions. I had a 2001 GTP (admittedly, they have better fuel pumps than non-GTP versions) and put almost 100k on it. I replaced the lower intake gasket and transmission, and nothing else that wasn’t a non-maintenance item. It had great power, had exceptional fuel economy and was one of the most comfortable long distance cruisers I’ve ever driven. 7/10, would own again.

That particular body style of Bonneville is easily one of the best looking modern Pontiacs.

Counterpoint: Keep Oppo GT O.

Aw, now the kangaroos that built it have a sadface. Are you happy for what you’ve done?

The Bonnie GXP came with a Northstar under the hood. 4.6 liters of goodness.
