In the parking lot of one of those big suburban shopping centres, naturally. Very good looking vans, but a lot smaller then you’d think. Kinda bridges the gap between stuff like the Mazda5/Rondo and the bigger Sienna/Caravan type vans.
Also reminds me a lot of the old Odyssey that the Asia-Pacific market got, just more swoopy.

Sounds like it shrunk from the previous gen?

I’ve seen a bunch already. Not bad looking for a van, but I didn’t get the impression that it was any smaller.

I knew I was getting old the first time I saw a minivan that made me think, “that looks pretty nice.”

It hasn’t, it’s just more heavily styled.

The specs say the new Odyssey is the same height and width, and 3 inches longer, than the Sienna.

That makes sense. I couldn’t imagine that getting downsized for the US.

Yeah, I saw the pictures and thought, “not bad”, then I read 0-60 in 6.6, and now I’m starting to think about how practical they are, and ogodpleasenononomakeitstopnononoaiiieeeeeee

The Odyssey, Pacifica, Sienna and Sorento are all basically the same size. The Pacifica is the biggest by a hair and then it’s Odyssey, Sorento and Sienna. But the height and width are all within an inch of each other, and there’s only a 3 inch difference in length from the Sienna to Pacifica.

The proportions seem to make it look a lot smaller than it actually is.

Wow- that’s identical for all practical purposes. I guess they all decided that was the “right” size.

I have had the same thought then my wife reminds me we only have one kid and he’s only here half the time.

As long as we only have 1, we’ll avoid it, too. But if #2 comes along, it gets tougher-

My wife has traumatic childhood minivan memories; so that won’t change. Thankfully she has no such concerns when I look at old station wagons with rear facing seats.

I just can’t get over how much like a Buick it looks.

US doesn’t get shit, they take vans seriously in Japan, some cushy space capsules.

At first, I was all “wow, a new Honda that isn’t hideous!” Then I saw the front end and choked on my own vomit...

I’m amazed at how ours is exactly the right size to fit in our garage with the lift gate open. Just a few inches to spare in front and back.

My wife is all about crossovers- she’s never owned anything else, ever.
Hates minivans and wagons- I’m working on her on the wagons.

My dad used to have a 1983 Caravan. First year, I think. Surprisingly small, yet very roomy.
Seems like everyone has done their homework to figure out what size they should be, and nailed it.

Right now my wife drives a stick shift 2004 Impreza, but it’s got 210,000 miles now. We’re starting to look at replacements, and unfortunately I think she’s leaning towards a CRV.

They’re very good at what they do, but yeah, not exciting at all.

We had some family friends with that generation of Caravan. Small but roomy is right.

IIRC, it had a 2.2 NA, automatic and the entire family drove it all over hell for almost 20 years. Moving to from school etc, towing trailers, whatever. It did it all. Slowly, but it did it.

Needing to buy a minivan in my near future , like honda, their slush boxes scare me, chryslers electronics and fiat diamler soup of parts are to run away from, toyota is just boring.
In an unschedule stop in panama we were driven to the hotel in a yota van with rear wheel drive diesel stickshift. Oh to dream!
